Playground Additional Terms of Service

1. Introduction:

To use Playground, you must accept (1) the Google Terms of Service and (2) these Playground Additional Terms of Service (the “Playground Additional Terms”). Terms that are not defined in the Playground Additional Terms have the meanings given to them in the Google Terms of Service. To the extent the Playground Additional Terms conflict with the Google Terms of Service, the Playground Additional Terms will govern.

Please read these documents carefully. Together, these documents are known as the “Terms”. They establish what you can expect from us as you use our services, and what we expect from you. We also encourage you to read our Privacy Policy and Help Center to better understand how you can manage your information.

2. Your Use of Playground

“Playground Games” means the game archetypes, templates, and pre-loaded games made available by Google, or other users of Playground, through the Playground platform or other Google services and surfaces integrated with Playground, created using the game creation functionality native to Playground.

“Your Content” has the meaning given in the Google Terms of Service and includes any prompts, instructions, media (such as images), or other materials you upload or submit to Playground to create or customize games, and Your Games.

“Your games” in the context of Playground refers to games created by you using any of the generative AI services and features native to Playground, and any other games that you choose to publish on Playground through third party services, Your Content, or other materials that you upload or use from the Playground media library.

Access to Playground. You may use Playground to find, view, create, and play games on supported devices (“Device”). To use Playground, you will need a Device that meets the system and compatibility requirements for the relevant Playground Games, working Internet access, and compatible software.

Playground Games.

Playground Games may be offered by Google or made available by other users of Playground who are not affiliated with Google. Google is not responsible for and does not endorse any Playground Games that have not been created by Google.
The availability of Playground Games, and features will vary between countries and not all Playground Games or features may be available in your country.
You may publish Your Games on Playground as unlisted or public. Unlisted publication of Your Games enables you to share Your Games with specific users with whom you share the link to Your Games, while public publication makes Your Games available to all users of Playground. These games may then also be discoverable on other Google products.

Age requirements. In order to create games on Playground, you must have a valid Google account (“Google Account”), subject to the following age restrictions. Playground is open to create games for users who are 18 or above years of age. You must comply with any additional age restrictions that might apply for your interaction and use of specific Content.

Information about You. Google's Privacy Policy explains how we treat your personal data and protect your privacy when using Playground.

Unauthorized Access to Accounts. You must keep your account details secure and must not share them with anyone else. You must not collect or harvest any personal data of any user of Playground or of any user of other Google services via Playground, including account names.

3. Your Content and conduct

Your Games. If you are logged into Playground, you may be able to create games using generative AI services and features native to Playground, or using generative AI services and features offered by third parties who choose to provide this functionality via Playground (“Your Games”). Your games published on Playground must comply with these Terms, including any Community Guidelines, our Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy, and applicable laws. In particular, Your Games must not violate the Google Terms of Service's What we expect from you section. For example, Your Games must:

not upload any images of individuals or users without their prior consent, and must not ask for personal information about other players;
not use the services to prompt for, generate, or incorporate third-party intellectual property (such as copyrighted characters from other games) unless you have obtained written permission from the rights holder or are otherwise legally entitled to do so;
not allow users to illegally impersonate others;
not remove, obscure, or alter any watermarks, labels, or metadata indicating that Your Content is AI-generated;
not include open-ended text inputs or communication features designed to facilitate or elicit bullying, harassment, or the disparagement of others;
not attempt to interfere with or bypass any of our safety filters, classifiers, or instructions intended to prevent the generation of harmful content.

You are legally responsible for Your Games. We may use automated and manual systems that analyze Your Games to help detect policy violations or abuse, including spam and malware.

Your Games

Playground allows you to generate Your Games using Your Content and other features, services and assets available on Playground. Google will not claim ownership over Your Games. However, Google retains all rights in features, services, and assets provided by Google which might be used by you in the generation of Your Game.

Right to Monetize

You grant Playground the right to monetize Your Games on Playground (including displaying ads on or within Your Games). However, we will take your permissions prior to doing so.

Removing Your Games

You may choose to unlist from Your Games on Playground, which will then make your games only privately visible to you, and any others who you may choose to share the link of Your Game with, or you can entirely delete Your Games from the Service at any time. You must delete Your Games if you no longer have the rights required by these terms.

Removal of Your Games By Playground

Please see here for details of when we may remove Your Games. We will notify you with the reason for our action unless we reasonably believe that to do so: (a) would breach the law or the direction of a legal enforcement authority; (b) would cause legal liability for Google or our Affiliates; (c) would compromise an investigation or the integrity or operation of Playground; or (d) would cause harm to any user, other third party, Google, or our Affiliates.
